What is a domain name ownership change?

A domain ownership change is the transfer of all responsibilities including the rights, liabilities, obligations and control of a domain name to another person.

The change of a company name or change of the legal form (i.e. sole proprietorship into a limited liability company) will require for the domain ownership to be updated. A change of residence or company address, however, is purely a change of data.

Please note: Do not confuse the change of ownership with a change to the billing address! A change of ownership does not always necessarily mean an automatic change to the billing address. The change of the billing recipient must be explicitly requested for by contacting EDIS.
